From the beginning of spiritual teaching, enlightened mystics advised people to control their thinking to live a good life
You don’t need an expensive course or a pricey coach to teach you mindset. All you need is to guard your negative thoughts and turn them into positive thoughts about the same issue. In other words, if you catch yourself thinking “I’m not good enough to do this” turn that around and say “I’m good enough to do whatever I’m supposed to do.” It takes practice to monitor your thoughts and to rephrase them. This skill is not trainable by others. You must learn clear, correct thinking for yourself.
This thought mindset wisdom has been taught by mystics for over a thousand years. (A mystic is a person who seeks by contemplation and self-surrender to obtain unity with or absorption into the Deity or the absolute, or who believes in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect.) Read the following wisdom from the mystics Buddha, Rumi, Jeremiah, Jesus, Paul, and Mary Baker Eddy.
“It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.”
“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”
“There is nothing so disobedient as an undisciplined mind, and there is nothing so obedient as a disciplined mind.”
—Buddha, 4th Century
“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and twice as beautiful as you’d ever imagined.” “
Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”
—Rumi, 13th-century
The first thing you need to change about yourself is to monitor your thoughts. Practice watching your thinking and firmly guard and block negative nags.
“For I know the thoughts I think toward you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
—Jeremiah 29:11
In other words, if the Divine Creator thinks of peace for you and—expects that will happen, you too should think thoughts of peace and not of evil—and expect peace and goodness.
Jesus said, “Watch and pray.”
He did not say beg and pray. Watch your thinking instead of begging. Pray with positive vibrations.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
—Paul to the Philippians, circa 50 AD
Imagine if you only thought about the good things, talked about the good, and acted on the energy created with this habit.
“Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results. You will control yourself harmoniously.
—Mary Baker Eddy, 1875
And, so do it! You have everything you need to turn your thinking into a joyous life.
“Choose to focus on your positive life moments. Rethink your negative thoughts. You will strengthen your consciousness cultivating a mindset inspiring a life full of gratitude and joy.”
—Jeanette JOY Fisher, 2019
